College Funding Specialist, CFP

I am not a career “money guy.” I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middlebury College in 1998 and moved West. My dream was to work in movies and television. I spent the next 17 years in Los Angeles, working as an editor and visual effects artist. I worked on commercials, television, movies, and rides for some of the largest brands in the world. The work forced me to cultivate exacting standards for perfection and technical ability. I built a successful career, but I struggled to manage my family’s finances and plan for our future.

Then my oldest daughter suffered two serious illnesses in three years. In what seemed like a blink, most of our savings vanished. Her health scare showed me in stark terms how little I was helping others, including my own family. It was time to embark on a new path that would help me take control of my family’s financial future. Above all I wanted to share the strategies I learned with people like me.

I started my financial services career as a licensed life & health insurance agent. I began providing more holistic advice, with an emphasis on late-stage college planning, after becoming a Series 65 licensed fiduciary advisor. In 2020 I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. My goal with everyone I work with is to help them use their resources as tools to enhance their prosperity and well being.

I have contributed to financial articles published in Forbes, USA Today, Fox Business, Time’s NextAdvisor, Redfin, Yahoo! Finance, and more. In my free time I love cooking, training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, practicing archery, paddling Kentucky’s beautiful waterways, hiking, building janky furniture and exercise equipment, writing, and reading. My fiction writing has been published in Kentucky Monthly magazine.

I live in Lexington, KY with my beautiful and patient wife, two vivacious daughters, and three spazzy dogs.
